The EK17 is a Dual Matrix Array (DMA) probe, and it’s designed specifically for weld inspection in materials with complex grain structures, such as austenitic stainless steel and CRA (corrosion-resistant alloy). DMA improves SNR in those materials due to separate transmit and receive apertures and the use of longitudinal waves.
