The EK28 is a Dual Linear Array (DLA) probe, and it’s designed specifically for weld inspection in materials with complex grain structures, such as austenitic stainless steel and CRA (corrosion-resistant alloy). DLA improves SNR in those materials due to separate transmit and receive apertures and the use of longitudinal waves. It offers a large aperture helping with thicker austenitic components.
